Krystyna Górniak -Kocikowska is a Professor of Philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University, and Director of the Religious Studies Program at the University. She has an MA in German Philology and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, as well as an MA and an ABD in Religious Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Her main interest in the area of emerging and converging sciences and technologies is the global impact they have on social justice issues, and how they change the economy (especially the knowledge economy) and social life. Since 1995, Dr. Górniak-Kocikowska has presented regularly papers on the abovementioned topics at international conferences on Computer Ethics – ETHICOMP and others; and she has published articles in this field in the USA and in Poland. She co-edited (with Andrzej Kocikowski and Terrell Ward Bynum) a collection of “milestone” papers on Computer Ethics translated from English into Polish, Wprowadzenie do etyki informatycznej (Introduction to Information Ethics). Most recently (2015), she presented a paper on Chinese Philosophy and computer ethics at an international conference in Hong-Kong; and she was invited to contribute a chapter Education of Computer Scientists in the era of emerging and converging sciences and technologies to a book
to be published in Polish. She teaches occasionally Computer Ethics at SCSU. Dr. Górniak-Kocikowska is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Information, Communication & Ethics in Society.
